Wedding photos should become a beautiful memory for life. Since only a few of us are professional models or even have fun posing for photos, we need a few simple tips to get some dreamlike pictures even as a layman.

Posing for photos is not that easy. Where to put the arms? How should you stand and which poses should you even do? Not only do you have no idea how to pose, most people don't feel comfortable in front of the camera at all. So it is not even fun for many people to pose for photos. Nevertheless, one wishes of course beautiful wedding pictures, which one will still look at with a smile in the future and maybe even show the grandchildren sometime.

If you don't know what to look for when posing for your wedding photos, we have a few tips for you.

1. A Freshness Check

Only very few brides have a make-up artist on site. However, the wedding photos are usually taken directly after the wedding ceremony. This means: You probably just shed a tear or two and have already kissed your sweetheart several times. Both alone is a challenge for a good make-up. If the wedding takes place in the summer, when you might have sweated or it is raining that day (hello, humidity!), it is quite possible that make-up and hairstyle urgently need a refresher.

Nobody wants to look dishevelled in their wedding photos or have lipstick on their teeth. Sure, the photographers edit the pictures afterwards, but image editing costs the photographers time and thus you cash money. Especially since not everything can be saved afterwards. So remember to pack a small beauty bag in advance and give your maid of honor the responsibility to bring it to the shooting. In it mascara, lipstick, powder, hairspray ad and a mirror should not be missing!

Then you can have a quick look in the mirror before the photo shooting. In the best case you have made sure that everything looks good and if you need to apply make-up, you will be glad to have noticed it in time.

2. The Right pose For Wedding Photos

To look good on photos, the right pose is essential. Ideally, the photographer will tell you how to pose and how you can change a pose for the best wedding picture. However, it helps if you already know a little bit about what you should pay attention to - especially if you have not hired a professional photographer, but maybe only an acquaintance is taking your wedding pictures.

It is best to never position yourself in front of the camera. Always stand slightly turned in. The best way to achieve this is not to place your legs next to each other. Your weight should always be on your back leg. Adjust your hips a little bit in the direction of the back leg. This may feel a bit strange, but it looks great on photos.

3. the right position of the head

The most important thing on the wedding photo is of course your face. You can also influence how well you look in the pictures. Pull your chin down slightly to make your face look narrower. You can hide or avoid a double chin by pressing your tongue against the palate. People with a pronounced forehead should, on the contrary, pull their chin forward to make their face look more balanced.

4. where to put the arms in photos?

The arms are always a thing in photos, most of the time you just don't know where to put them. The worst thing you can do is to press your arms to the side of your body. That makes you look wider. Let your arms hang loosely next to your body so that your hand is as close to your hips as possible. The elbows should point backwards. This will emphasize your waist and hips and not only your arms, but your whole body will look slimmer.

5. Hold The Bridal Bouquet Not Only Before You

If you take pictures with your bridal bouquet, some pictures where you hold the bouquet in front of you are naturally beautiful. But be careful not to hold it too high or too low. Ideal is at belly button height.

For some pictures you can also hold the bridal bouquet casually beside you. Remember to put the bridal bouquet aside and take some pictures without taking any pictures.

6. Have Fun

Probably the most important tip is that you should have fun at your photo shoot. Even though most of us don't usually have any fun at all posing for photos, you should make an exception for this one shoot. After all, the pictures should remind you of one of the best days of your life. Even in 50 years you should still like to look at your wedding photos, which show how happy you were on the day you said yes to each other.

But don't worry: Most bridal couples are just beaming with happiness on their big day. So your photos are sure to be a wonderful memory.
