There was great excitement in the instant photography community when The Impossible Project bought the Polaroid name and announced the debut of the Polaroid Originals, a new line of instant cameras.
The OneStep + is the second version after the OneStep 2 (yes, sounds confusing). Compared to its predecessor, Polaroid Originals has made sensible improvements, but is not reinventing the wheel.
OneStep + users: inside can now look forward to an 89 mm portrait lens for taking pictures of people and the integration of Bluetooth connectivity, which not only enables a remote release and control via a smartphone, but also brings several new recording modes with it.
These include double exposures and light painting. Polaroid fans should definitely be satisfied with this camera!

Fujifilm instax Mini 9
The Fujifilm instax mini 9 is the Japanese manufacturer's best-selling instant camera. Powered by two AA batteries, it is more at the cheap end of instant photography, but that shouldn't sound bad at all - Fujifilm is thus expanding the circle of potential buyers, families with children in particular benefit from this price policy.
Despite the plastic construction, the instax mini 9 offers large buttons and thanks to its bright colors, it is also visually attractive. The picture is taken in credit card format of 54 x 86 mm (10 pictures in a pack).
A built-in flash that fires every time and the front mirror not only help with selfie snapshots. The Softort video camera is switched on by simply turning the lens.
The recording modes are selected by further turning the lens ring of the camera and are illuminated helpful when used. Close-ups at a distance of 35 cm from the subject are also possible. The simple point-and-shoot controls appeal to both children and adults!
Note: A newer version of this camera is the instax mini 11 . The systems are very similar, but the successor has some new functions.

Fujifilm instax Wide 300
The Fujifilm instax Wide 300 is operated with four AA batteries instead of the usual two and is practically the big sister of the instax series.
At first glance it looks like a medium format camera and enables larger prints to be made (instax WIDE film packages are used instead of instax mini) that are more similar to the standard print dimensions.
Due to its size, the instax Wide 300 is rather impractical for selfies, but it is still relatively light! A lever that surrounds the trigger on the handle in the style of a bridge camera drives it and extends the optics up to 95mm.
Control is limited to adjusting the brightness and flash. If you want instant prints that are closer to the dimensions of "real" photos, the Fujifilm instax Wide 300 is a great option.

Fujifilm instax SQUARE SQ 6
The Fujifilm instax SQUARE SQ6 is powered by two small CR2 lithium batteries (included), which manufacturers claim to hold a whopping 30 packs of 10-frame film.
This camera tries to keep Instagram users away from their smartphones. It mimics the style of the social media platform and prints images in 1: 1 format while maintaining the analog functions.
The body is available in different colors, a selfie mode and three color filters that are attached to the flash, as well as double exposure, macro and landscape format were also installed.
It is also not surprising that the camera uses a special Fujifilm SQUARE film that offers an image size of 6.2 x 6.2 cm. Lomo'Instant Wide
Lomography manages to give every product a certain retro charm.
The Lomo'Instant Wide can best be compared with the instax WIDE 300 from Fujifilm. Thanks to the wider prints and the four AA batteries that power it, it is similar in weight and volume to the Japanese manufacturer's camera.
The instant camera is heavier in the hand and is more box-shaped than the Fujifilm. However, it appears to have been designed that way on purpose, as it resembles devices that were produced in the 1970s or 1980s.
The camera has a selfie mirror on the front and a large lever for the shutter release, as well as a lens ring that allows you to adjust the focus distance between 0.6 meters and infinity.

The Polaroid Now ranks between the OneStep 2 and OneStep + models. Thanks to the autofocus system with two lenses and the improved flash, it offers superior image quality compared to the OneStep 2, but the additional functions (such as Bluetooth connectivity and remote release) of the slightly more expensive OneStep + are missing.
The Polaroid Now offers more than enough for a pure point-and-shoot solution - if you don't need the additional "bells and whistles" of the OneStep +, the Polaroid Now will inspire you.

Kodak Smile
The Kodak Smile Instant Print is a digital instant camera - a modern update of instant photography, so to speak, that tries to combine analog and digital. The slim smartphone camera (by the way, we tested the best cell phone cameras here) works with ZINK (Zero Ink) technology and is essentially a miniature printer with a lens.
The prints with an adhesive back are produced in the format 2 x 3 inches. There is a relatively modest 5 megapixel sensor in the camera (up to 10 megapixels through interpolation). However, you do not need too much resolution for images of this print size. Ultimately, the images produced look more like printer images than instant images - not necessarily a bad thing, but they don't have the same magic as instant film.
The option of adding up to 256 GB microSD memory means that you can take pictures to your heart's content and only then select and print the pictures. You have to like that though.
The integrated battery keeps the camera nice and slim, but it only manages about 40 prints per charge. The LCD screen does its job, but don't expect the same fidelity as your traditional DSLR or CSC screen.

Lomo'instant Automat Glass (Magellan Edition)
The Lomo'instant Automat Glass Magellan version is externally similar to the regular Lomo'instant from Lomography and has an additional rubber coating. It offers a non-slip surface for fingers and thumbs.
The camera is equipped with a 38 mm lens that provides an ultra-wide angle of 21 mm (in relation to KB). According to Lomography, this is the first instant camera with a wide-angle glass lens better suited for landscape photography or group portraits, along with a brighter f / 4.5 lens.
Theoretically, this also indicates superior image quality compared to conventional point-and-shoot instant cameras, but it is difficult to say whether you will see clear differences in credit card-sized prints.
